Onset / Sponsor a stove

While Carbon Offsetting is the act of reducing carbon dioxide emissions globally by mitigating carbon emissions, Carbon Onsetting is a bit different.  By carbon onsetting, you choose to support the projects and sponsor stoves in our communities.  This is similar to a charitable donation, though still has the end effect of reducing global carbon emissions overall.

Even without calculating your carbon emissions,

you can help our necessary projects move forward in several ways

Sponsor a stove

Compensate your carbon footprint and help a household in South Africe by sponsoring a stove.

Stoves mitigate 1.5-2 tonnes carbon dioxide over an estimated lifetime of two years.

After purchase, your stove will be implemented within 6 months.

Heat-retained cooker

Once food is heated to boiling point in any stove, cooking can continue in a retained heat cooker. The light-weight, non-bulky insulation includes a heat-reflective foil which also acts as a steam barrier.

Using a retained heat cooker does not lengthen normal cooking time, while it reduces stove time by two thirds.

These are made locally by women from previously disadvantaged backgrounds and your support of their initiative will have the added benefit of creating more jobs.
